[Law Schools: All]
[Graduation Year: All]

I think Law Preview really helped give a foundation to what was going on. First semester was a little overwhelming, but it would have been a lot more so if LP hadn't warmed me up to briefing, some of the material, research, and what to expect.
—Jared M., University of Nevada—Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law, Class of 2011

From day one I knew what to expect, what to concentrate on etc. I was most impressed by Don telling us the best ways to do well in law school. Though his studying 12 hrs a day was a little to much for me, I found that his other advice worked well.

I really took to heart the message: brief every case, pre-planned outlining schedule, pre-planned daily task list for the entire semester, and the importance of figuring out how to translate the semester's materials into usable exam strategies. When I got to school, I was shocked that many of my classmates routinely didn't fully prepare for class, stayed in the library until the wee hours in the morning, and didn't pay attention during class. Our class rank isn't released, but I land well above the top 5% historical mark. Notably, I've always struggled with reading comprehension; I think my classmates and professors would be shocked at my grades given my performance in class. I was never stressed out or rushing to get through material using the Law Preview plan. Most importantly, I knew I could disregard all the unsolicited advice from upperclassmen about how to do well because I already had my plan! The time and money I dedicated to taking Law Preview paid off ten-fold. You can take back a lot of things in life, but first year grades aren't one of them. Law Preview teaches students how to manage that pressure and live a healthy lifestyle.

After taking the Law Preview course, I entered law school with a better idea of how to efficiently prepare for classes than most of my peers. I think that taking the Law Preview course helped me to avoid the feelings of being "lost" and "overwhelmed" that many 1Ls feel during their first semester.
—Graham, University of North Carolina School of Law, Class of 2008

The week long course provided by Law Preview allowed me a glimpse into the world of being a first year law student. I knew ahead of time who I needed to talk to, when to buy books, what resources to look for, EXACTLY what to expect from class, and how to approach exam preparation.

Law preview was a great program to provide confidence before heading to law school. Sitting in a law school classroom talking about law school related topics was invaluable and an experience that cannot be prepared for by reading a book. I felt that without a political science background, I was coming into law school at a disadvantage. One week with Law Preview made me feel as if I was a step ahead of everyone else. To a certain extent, law school is a game. Once you figure out the game, you can really succeed. Law preview helps give a gameplan to learn the rules of the game and how to play it. I wanted to transfer into a top 20 school and I was able to with the help of Law Preview!

I had been out of school for a couple of years, so I was nervous about starting law school. I attended Law Preview, and the Exam-Taking Strategies seminar in the fall, and not only did they help me feel confident, I did great! After the first semester, I am in the top 5% of my class and have secured a judicial internship for the summer. Thanks, Law Preview!

Law preview (LP) gave me the confidence I needed to handle the pressure of the first semester of law school. Using LP's schedule and techniques for reading and briefing cases made the workload completely managable and the weekly review sessions were critical to retaining the knowledge accumulated throughout the semester.
—Anonymous, University of Oklahoma College of Law, Class of 2011

At the beginning of school, Law Preview helped me feel comfortable in my classes because the cases we brief in Law Preview were almost all used in class. Having already briefed those cases and pinpointed the relevant law helped considerably at first. However, probably the biggest benefits of Law Preview were large scale. Having some idea of how and what to outline is important, and I didn't find myself horribly behind when November rolled around like many people.

The dust has finally settled. After a month of waiting and a week of pushed back releases, grades are out. I did very well, and I wanted to write to thank you and the program's professors for getting me started on the right track. All in all I received A's in both Property and Contracts, and A-'s in Civ Pro and Torts. I was so happy, I was useless the rest of the day. . . . Thanks again, and best wishes for the program this upcoming summer.

Thanks Law Preview: I ended up with a GPA of 3.5 my first semester! More than anything, what I learned in the course helped me manage my law school stress levels, especially near the end of the semester, when I was able to design a realistic and effective strategy to prepare for my exams. What I've found is that if there is one 'secret' to law school, it's working hard and taking advantage of every small edge that you can create for yourself, and Law Preview helped me get a confident head-start on my courses. My advice to incoming first-years: read Law School Confidential and take Law Preview.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. This course far exceeded my expectations by demystifying the law school experience and providing me with the edge I will need to succeed. I know I will perform better this Fall becuase I participated in your program.

Law Preview has given me a particular type of confidence that goes beyond having a great undergraduate preparation or a high LSAT score. . . . Thanks for helping me start the first year of law school running, instead of crawling.

Most students come to law school with no clue of what to expect, or what they've gotten themselves into. As a result, many spend the first month or so learning not only the legal subjects they came ready to learn, but also an entire new set of study methods. The value of Law Preview is presenting all the study tools and methods before you are expected to use them, giving students the opportunity to get used to them and learn how best to use them to their advantage. I can't tell you how thankful I was (not to mention how much time I saved) that I knew how to brief before coming to law school! Don't expect to learn all of 1L year during the program. That's both not the point and impossible. But when you see subjects in class (this is especially true for property interests) the mystery is gone and you can get right down to understanding it, instead of spending precious time just trying to wrap your brain around it. I'm well above the median in my class and very confident going into 2L on-campus recruiting. I owe that in part to you, Don. A million thanks!!

Law Preview gave me confidence as I entered my first semester of law school. I attempted to adhere to the recommended reading/outlining schedule, as well as follow the recommended briefing techniques. All in all, I am satisfied with the Law Preview experience.

My school does not rank students, so I don't know my percentile. But I am very pleased with my grades--almost all As. I know that Law Preview was particularly helpful in getting me into the right mindset from the very beginning. I already had a framework for each course, and it made it easier for me to see the big picture from day 1. This is where I feel I excelled past my classmates--my ability to understand the material thematically. I did not spend my first weeks struggling over minute, unnecessary details, or teaching myself the components of a brief, as others did.

I took Law Preview in Philly last summer and the exam strategy class in DC last fall. I just had to write to say thank you again. I got a 3.71 my first semester and wow has it paid off. I was approached by one of my professor's a few weeks ago and was asked if I would be interested in a summer research assistant position. The professor had heard of me from a few of my professors last semester. She looked over my resume and grades and hired me for the summer to do research on a law review article and book she is writing. Then, as if things weren't going well enough, the law school awarded me a retroactive scholarship in the amount of $10,000 a year based on my first semester achievements. They don't want me to transfer I guess. I have recommended the program to all of my undergraduate friends who are planning to go to law school next year. I also told them that the exam strategy course is perfect for going into exams and it is offered at the perfect time. The program has definitely paid for itself.

Hi Don, I just wanted to let you know we got our first semester grades . . . and my GPA is a 3.85! Law Preview gave me a lot of the study skills I needed to succeed long before any one else in school figured it out. If I can do that well . . . anyone can. You just have to know how to go about it, and that's where Law Preview comes in. Thanks for getting me off to a great start.

Law Preview provided big-picture frameworks for all of my substantive first-year courses, which helped me with outlining. It provided a schedule for managing my workload [and] helpful exam-taking strategies, which eliminated the need to figure out my own good strategy before beginning the actual exam preparation. Finally, it provided some assurance that I could ignore the million distractions law school offers during the first semester and focus on my schoolwork.
