I attended the Law Preview session in Austin. I was just writing to let you know how I did the first semester. I attend the University of Houston Law Center, and I received all A's my first semester and am ranked #1 out of 266 students. Law Preview gave me the right mindset entering into law school, and I feel the class was a big part of my success. Not only did it help me succeed grades wise, but the class also gave me a sense of excitement to attend U of H, as there were 3 professors from the school who lectured at Law Preview, and I enjoyed all three!

—Shaun C., University of Houston Law Center, Class of 2013

I felt more prepared because I knew what to expect. I think the class made me feel more confident in my ability to meet the challenges of law school. I would definitely recommend the class to any incoming law student!

[Law Schools: All] [Graduation Year: All]

Overall, Law Preview took away much of the anxiety other students typically experience in their first year. With an overview of the first year courses, there weren't that many surprises. Law Preview also helped me develop a sensible schedule to tackle the heavy workload for the first year. Additionally, the portion of the course on taking law school exams was especially helpful. While I knew what to expect, and I could plan accordingly, many other students had no idea what a law school exam was like or how to prepare. I feel like Law Preview gave me an advantage, particularly in the first semester.

—Jason E., Texas Tech University School of Law, Class of 2013

Law Preview provided me with the foundation for a successful first year of law school. The workload from my undergraduate and graduate programs to law school was significant. By having a proven plan of attack ahead of time, I was able to hit the ground running from the first week of classes. In law school, the large majority of people are smart. What separates the top 10% from the rest is having a plan and sticking to it. Law Preview provided me with that plan.

—Drew N., Texas Tech University School of Law, Class of 2014

Law Preview provided a much needed jump start for the first semester. It allowed me to get to work right from the start and begin preparing and studying in a meaningful way that led to a great end of the semester! [Ranked #19 out of 241 students after first semester].

Hi Don, I hope you are doing well. Last summer, I took the Law Preview seminar at Texas Wesleyan (I am also a 1L there). I received my grades and I made the Dean's List!! . . . It has been nearly a decade since I was in school, so I was very apprehensive about returning. The seminar provided a great introduction to the subject matter and the time demands of law school.

—S.T., Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Class of 2005

I do not at the time know my class rank, but my first semester grades are nothing short of impressive. The course not only took the edge off the first few weeks, but also put me weeks ahead of my classmates as far as study skills are concerned. I used the helpful advice throughout the entire semester, and it really paid off.

—Gabriel G., Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Class of 2010

From the very first day of class I felt ahead of the learning curve as far as preparation and study habits goes. The tips from Law Preview were very helpful in establishing a good base for finals preparation and it really showed when exam period came around.

—Louis S., Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Class of 2011

Attending Law Preview provided awareness of the specific topics that would be covered during the first year of law school. Briefing cases and discussing them during class sessions was extremely helpful; the experience was invaluable for being able to concentrate on content rather than the process of briefing. An accepted student who will be a 1L in Fall 2008 asked me about attending Law Preview. Because of my recommendation, he signed up and will be attending the session at Wesleyan in August 2008! How exciting to have made such a difference in someone's life/career choice.

—Nancy R., Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Class of 2010

Law Preview really helped me in regards to exams. I had a hard semester, but when it came to exams, I followed the procedure set forth by Law Preview. I was able to out-perform my classmates by a considerable degree. My law school does not provide us our rank unless we request it, and I am still waiting for it, but judging from my grades, I am ranked highly.

—Anonymous, Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Class of 2011

Law Preview was invaluable. I was hoping to be in the top 20%. I am in the top 8%. LP gave me a road map to law school. While fellow classmates were 'freaking out' and overwhelmed at orientation, I felt like I had been there before. When others were struggling with the concept of briefing a case, I had all my briefs completed. Without Law Preview I would have been just another average student. Instead, I'm on the Dean's List. Thanks Law Preview!

—Mark F., Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Class of 2011

Law Preview was very instrumental in enabling me to be successful in my first year of law school. Not only did the course help prepare me for the rigors of the 1L curriculum, but it gave me a level of confidence walking into my first law school class that many of my peers did not acquire until well into the semester. While nothing can completely prepare you for the amount of hard work that it will take to out perform many of the other success driven people that will be sitting next to you in your law school classes, Law Preview comes pretty close. I finished my first year of law school ranked #10 (Top 5%) in my class, and I just received an invitation to become a member of my school's law review. There is no doubt in my mind that attending the Law Preview course was a significant factor in helping me to achieve these results. Law Preview's exam taking strategies, success tactics, and course overviews were all invaluable aids to me throughout my 1L year.

—Antonio A., Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Class of 2012

Law Preview was invaluable because it gave me a game plan for success. I followed the 12 steps, calendar, and testing materials. I have recommended Law Preview to several incoming students including my my wife and brother-in-law who are both coming to my law school. Thanks to Law Preview I ended up in the top 7% of my class and was invited to Law Review last week! I am working as a Research Assistant for one of my professors and also found an internship at a law firm in San Diego. Law Preview is for any student who wants to succeed.

—Robert B., Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Class of 2008

Law Preview expels the mystery that lies behind the first-year of law school. The program revealed to me that success in law school depends greatly on your approach. The tips and tools that I gleaned through my time in the program were priceless in that they gave me a "how to navigate" the first-year of law school that many of my peers did not appear to have. I finished my 1L year ranked 1 out of 313 students and I owe a debt of gratitude to LP for partnering with me throughout my first-year and for their continued support. I firmly believe that anyone who utilizes the LP approach and puts in the time and effort will find themselves at the top of their class and perhaps most importantly, find the law school experience to be enjoyable and satisfying.

Law Preview gave me the edge I needed to do well this semester. First, learning a lot of the main concepts ahead of time really allowed me to focus on perfecting my knowledge of the concept, as opposed to merely trying to grasp the concept for the first time. For example, when my Civil Procedure professor was introducing Subject-Matter Jurisdiction, Personal Jurisdiction, and their distinctions, I already understood; therefore I was able to gain more from the lecture throughout the semester. Secondly, the case briefing exercises really paid off. The process of identifying the relevant facts, the main issue, etc was daunting at first; but by the time I started class, I was able to produce them much quicker than the rest of my classmates, who were just learning how to case brief. It saved me time and frustration once the semester started. In the end it all paid off because I am now in the top 1% of my class after the first semester. Thank you Law Preview!

—Christina L., Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Class of 2010

I am a part-time student and ranked #5 of 96 students. The tools Law Preview provided me with did help get me off the ground running. As I stood on top of my outlines throughout the semester, other students were just beginning their outlines the week before midterms, and then did not touch them again until review week while I was taking past exams. The emails throughout the semester were also very helpful, they certainly kept me focused! So far, Law Preview has been worth the money spent. Thanks!

—Anonymous, Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Class of 2013

First, it calmed my nerves going into law school. Second, it helped me to create my own weekly and semester schedule. Finally, the briefs from Law Preview provided a small break at random points in the semester by removing a portion of the home work.

—Michael K., Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Class of 2014

Don, I just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful experience you provided at the law preview classes last summer. I was a student that decided to take a scholarship my first year, instead of going to a higher ranked school. I am student at Thomas Jefferson, and my first semester I got a 4.06 GPA, which hopefully will make me #1 in the class (Class rankings are not out yet). One of the reason why I did so well is because of the Law Preview class that I took. It really prepared me for all of the challenges that law school brings, and I was way more prepared then almost all of my other classmates. Because of my first semester grades I am going to try to transfer to a top 14, or at least something in the top 20, and I strongly believe that it would not have been an option for me to do so without Law Preview. Thanks again!

Law Preview prepared me with what to expect in my first year of law school. They gave great tips I used throughout the year.

—Anonymous, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Class of 2009

Law Preview helped me tremendously with my law school experience, especially the writing class. I felt more confident and prepared when I began.

—Scott G., Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Class of 2011

Since I just received my grades from the first semester yesterday, I do not know what I'm ranked yet, but I did get 3 As and 1 A-!! Law Preview definitely made a huge impression on my law school experience. The most important thing I took out of it was how much Don stressed to us that the 1st year matters the most. I always had that in the back of my mind at all times and that is what kept me going and striving to succeed. While everyone around me I felt complained about how hard it was and basically wanted to give up, I just kept remembering what Don said every day that once you get through the 1st year, the rest is easy! It also made me not want to settle for anything less than a 4.0 and so that's what I worked toward and I'm extremely pleased that I have no regrets about the effort I put in because I did everything I could have possibly done. . . . I also benefitted from Law Preview in that it stressed the importance of taking note of the things professors said in class that other students would think were trivial because those actually can matter the most and always find their way on the exam. For example, my torts professor mentioned one small detail in class that a certain case (that we were required to look up on our own time) might be on the exam, and I was SO happy i took the time to do that because the facts and issue in that case were EXACTLY the same on the exam and worth 20 essay pts! I really liked all the professors that came and lectured at law preview as well. My favorite was Jody Kraus who taught us Contracts because although he was intimidating at first, that definitely prepared me for some of the professors I had last semester! (I also really appreciated Don telling us to make sure we were well-prepared for that lecture!) Whenever I was called on to recite in class I just kept thinking how Jody told us that even if you're not sure what you're talking about, SOUND confident, and that helped a lot. . . . I also really found the schedule Law Preview laid out for us very helpful because I think a lot of people go into law school not knowing what the average time commitment is and I just kept thinking "9 hrs a day" and would try to aim for that! In the beginning of school, I was trying to do my homework for class the night before and then I realized that on the schedule we were given it said to do the assignments 2 nights in advance and that definitely was helpful!! Much less stressful that way. . . . More than anything, thank you Law Preview for being my motivation to strive for a 4.0 and constantly remind myself how important the first year grades are!

—Chirstina G., Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Class of 2012

I can't explain how much I believe this program helped me. Because of my experience at Law Preview, I came into my first term feeling comfortable with the material and hit the ground running. As I met more and more students, I realized that I was so much more ahead of them in terms of preparedness. I followed the schedule that the Law Preview suggested and I felt that its flow helped me to do my daily work, study on the weekends and to manage my time effectively. Many of my friends would come to me seeking advice or help with their briefs because they saw how streamlined my own process was. As the term went on I began to realize week after week how much the program really helped. And as I came into week ten I did not feel as stressed as most students. While they were spending late nights in the library trying to catch up and write their outlines; I was simply reviewing and developing strategies on how to attack my exams. I felt that the study tips and suggestions they gave at the Law Preview not only helped with learning content, but managing the stress of first term. Not that I wasn't stressed, but I was substantially less freaked out/emotional than many other students. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in going to law school. To put it quite plain, I would call home and tell my parents all the time how thankful I was that I made the decision to attend the Law Preview. [Ranked 51 out of 325].
