Law Preview reduced my anxiety about starting law school by letting me know what to expect. The legal research and writing session was very helpful. It gave me an edge when researching for my first legal writing assignment, because I already had an idea of how to do book research.

Over the course of six days, Law Preview introduced me to the first year law school curriculum, the Socratic method, and study tips to prepare for finals. Specifically, the founder of the program, Don Macaulay, provided the students with important resources, such as calendars and supplements, for finals preparation and advice about time-management. Additionally, because of the relationship between Law Preview and BARBRI, all program alumni have free access to BARBRI's online resources, including lectures, for the first-year curriculum. Those resources were especially useful during reading period. Without the program, I would have had daunting and misguided expectations of the first year of law school. Law Preview instilled confidence in me by revealing that law school is manageable. That confidence translated to my academic performance in my first semester. Ultimately, Law Preview gave me the opportunity to conquer the most challenging year of law school.

Law Preview provided a proven method for effective studying. By following the study guide and schedule I was able to understand how to approach class and exams.

I have a 4.0 G.P.A. after my first two semesters, and I plan to keep it throughout law school now. I think that Law Preview gave me an edge because I knew what to expect in law school. I knew that I had to review throughout the semester because of Law Preview, and I think that gave me an advantage in particular. Additionally, I think that the briefing skills and tips for the core classes has really helped me be better prepared on the front end. I would strongly recommend Law Preview to anyone interested in attending law school as well as incoming law school students! I think I am ranked second now. I only know of one other person who had a 4.0 after the first two semesters at BSOL. I hope to rise to the top, but if not, I know I am doing well! I think we have around 200 or 300 in our group. They do not put our rank on our transcripts with our grades.

I am writing to thank you for the Law Prep course that I took last summer. I just got my first-year grades and I did fantastic, top 5%. At the beginning of the year I walked in with the plan and study techniques you taught me. While other students were still trying to figure out how to case brief, I was already outlining. And, by the time most other students began outlining I had already finished and begun writing practice exams . . . Thanks!

Hey Don - I am now officially a walking endorsement for Law Preview!!! I just got my first-semester grades back and I got an A-, B+, B+! I am so excited -- our curve is set to a B and only 11 people in each class get A's of any kind (and my A- was in Contracts, where I was praying to just get by with a B!). I have no doubt that the study habits, time management, briefing and exam-taking tips I learned at your course helped me do this. Thank you again, and please let me know if there are any prospective students who would like to hear about my experiences. . . . Law Preview was the best thing I did last summer (OK, besides the week in Paris). I can't tell you how much I appreciate the lectures and discussions. I felt this extreme surge of confidence right after the class was over and once I got to law school I was even more impressed with how much I was (and am) able to apply.

Law Preview helped me to get a jump start on my courses, and in mapping out a strategy to succeed in law school. I definitely appreciated the week of boot camp over the summer, and the weekend exam prep workshop during the year. They helped me to feel more confident in classes and exams, and played a big part in getting me onto law review. Thanks Law Preview!

The program helped me understand the challenges that lay ahead. Specifically, it was good to learn how to brief a case... since I did not use this format in undergrad, it was nice to know ahead of time the importance of briefing cases. While my law school does not rank, ultimately, I was satisfied with my grades.

It was fabulous, and really realistic about how much was needed for certain placements in class rank. If I followed their advice to the letter I think I could have made the top percent.
—Taylor B., Boston College Law School, Class of 2012

Law Preview really helped ease the transition into law school. Less confusion. I felt like a 2L compared to several of my fellow students.

I'm sorry that I have not responded to any of your surveys/emails. I was selfishly scanning them for the helpful tips/faq's and not taking the time to fill them out. I am particularly sorry because of how great of an experience Law Preview was for me. I attended a session in the summer of 2010 at Duke Law, which you hosted. To be honest, I was at first skeptical about spending the money on a preparatory program, but my parents/girlfriend convinced me it was the right idea. In the 2010-2011 school year, I attended Boston College and finished well within the top 10% of my class. I had a great time in school and made some really good connections with my peers/professors. In addition, I wrote onto the Law Review. This past summer, I applied to transfer to NYU, partially in order to be closer to my fiance who is attending NYU social work school. I was accepted on August 8th, and have been in the midst of interviews since them. I have recently received callback interviews at a dozen firms and wrote on to an NYU journal as well. I can't help but think your course helped make a lot of these opportunities possible. Thank you so much, and again, sorry for the lack of communication.

I was a Boston Law Preview student and go to BU now. Got my grades back for last semester and they are great. 4.06 GPA!! . . . the summer program definitely gave me a lot of much needed skills and advice.

The course let me know what to expect coming into Law School. I was more prepared mentally for the challenge and rigor of 1L year.

Law Preview made me more comfortable in the classroom setting and with cold calling. It helped me get off to a quick start with my briefing and outlining to get ahead of the pace and familiarized me with general topics. It also allowed me to learn from some outstanding professors and prepared me for the kind of work load I would have on a daily basis. Although I didn't follow the schedule on the Law Preview calendar, I was roughly aware of where I wanted to be in the semester due to what I learned in the Law Preview course. [Ranked top 5% after fall semester].
—Anonymous, Boston University School of Law, Class of 2015

Law preview gave me the tools and confidence I needed to hit the ground running when school began. It was just like you said, when I was outlining everyone else was still reading, when I was breaking my outline down to something I could internalize, everyone else was outlining. This left me time to take plenty of practice exams and bring my A game during exams. [Ranked #14 out of 150 students].

I took Law Preview in NYC last summer, and just completed my 1st year at Brooklyn. The numbers from 2nd semester came in this past week: A's in Con Law, and Civ Pro, and A- in Contracts, Property, and Legal Writing. GPA is 3.78. Not bad for someone who walked out of every exam sure that he bombed it. Anyway, your class was a huge help. Keep up the good work.
—Dan S., Brooklyn Law School, Class of 2005

It was extremely helpful. I knew what it expect and was able to delve right into briefing cases appropriately, being prepared for class, and knowing what to anticipate on exams. Thanks!
—Anonymous, Brooklyn Law School, Class of 2008

[Law Preview] made me very skilled at reading and briefing cases, taught time management and emphasized just how much work and how much of a commitment law school was.
—Jessica Z., Brooklyn Law School, Class of 2009

I was far more prepared for the basics of law school (reading cases, briefing, etc.) than most of my peers. In addition, the first few weeks weren't nearly as "scary" for me as I know they were for many other people! Having the chance to read many key cases for each class (i.e. Pallsgraf v. LIRR, for Torts) gave me a definite advantage. The roadmap for each course I had after Law Preview made the semester more predictable, and thus easier to manage. I also knew the importance of continuing to brief cases, even when most of my classmates had stopped. Lastly, you can't underestimate the value of those helpful tips (like getting your prof's old exams during the FIRST week of class rather than the last, when everyone else is trying to do it too!)
—Sarah M., Brooklyn Law School, Class of 2009

We aren't ranked until the end of the academic year - my fall GPA was a hair under 3.5. The best advantage coming from Law Preview was having an understanding of what a good exam will read like. So many students want to find the right answer right away, and then stick to their guns. If anything, Socratic Method questioning can reinforce this mistake. But being able to enter school knowing that it is actually wise to seek out, understand, and embrace all sides of an argument was a valuable skill. It was also helpful to have read some of the "greatest hits" cases before classes started.
