[Law Schools: All]
[Graduation Year: All]
|
We are not given our class rankings - but I received high honors my second semester. Law Preview was essentially a mini 1L experience over the course of several days. This provided a frame of reference which illustrated not only what could be expected in terms of the academic content of the classes but also what the most effective study habits were for conquering the material and all important final exam essays.
—Katharine K., Rutgers The State University School of Law—Camden, Class of 2009
|
It was nice to have a preview of the cases that we would read as 1Ls. I had a good idea of what to expect as a first year student before classes started. Every advantage is needed to be successful. You MUST hit the ground running. There are people who have been paralegals, federal investigators, etc. in law school, who have experience others may lack. Law Preview was instrumental in not starting at a disadvantage.
—Chris B., Rutgers The State University School of Law—Camden, Class of 2011

Rutgers doesnt rank [after first semester]. Based on my GPA, I'm probably top 15%. Law Preview helped give an overview of the substantive areas, sampling of the Socratic method, practical advice about how to approach law school, especially the study calendar.
—David E., Rutgers The State University School of Law—Camden, Class of 2011
|
Law Preview prepared me for the rigors of law school. The reading requirements, lectures, exams, and introduction to the concepts taught during many first year courses positively impacted my law school experience.
—Tara B., Rutgers University School of Law—Newark, Class of 2010
|
Law Preview did a good job of hustling its students along the learning curve associated with the transition to the dense material that is law as well as the Socratic Method of teaching. This valuable experience allowed me to focus on the substantive issues in the course earlier than my counterparts.
—Joseph L., Rutgers University School of Law—Newark, Class of 2013

Law Preview helped me create a plan to manage my time and stay on top of my work load. I especially thought that Law Preview's recommendation of outlining each Sunday was particularly helpful and not something I would have thought of.

I though Law Preview was extremely helpful. I felt like it helped me to enter law school with a structured plan. I think it helped tremendously that I had already practiced briefing cases when all my classmates were still figuring out whether they were going to book brief, paper brief, or not brief at all. . . . Also, the advice about having your resume done before coming to law school helped me save time when everyone else was trying to look for summer internships. Overall, I would highly recommend Law Preview to anyone who is experiencing anxiety about entering law school or is worried about knowing what to expect. I think the best think law preview did for me was to send me to law school with a plan and time-table that kept me on top of my work and ready for finals.

Law Preview taught me how to prepare for classes. During the first few weeks of the first semester, I started outlining. By the end of the semester, I had plenty of time to review my outline and study. Some of my classmates were struggling to get their outlines done. It was almost unfair to my fellow classmates who had not attended Law Preview.
—Anonymous, Saint Louis University School of Law, Class of 2009

Law Preview provided a distinct advantage going into our 1st year classes. Having a general overview of each course enables students to grasp the topics more quickly. As a part-time evening student, working full time, this was a great assist in my first year.
—Mark M., Saint Louis University School of Law, Class of 2009

[Law Preview] bought me 3-4 weeks ahead of the herd. A big deal during busy law school.
—Andrew G., Santa Clara University School of Law, Class of 2009

Getting an overview of the classes was a great way to help me feel more confident about starting my 1L classes. I especially liked also how the class shares a sample schedule so that instead of worrying about when to start outlining, how you should organize you readings for class, you can focus on what is important -- learning the material. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to be able to get an idea of what lies ahead for their 1L year to ensure that you can focus on the important things (such as doing well) instead of the logistical components.

On the first day of law school classes, I felt completely prepared for the experience. I was already ahead of most of my class in knowing how to brief a case, create an outline, and take lecture notes that would help me prepare for exams. I also had a unique understanding of the subject material in my first-year classes due to the fantastic road map provided by each of my Law Preview professors. I'm currently ranked #1 out of 320 students and I don't think I would be having nearly the academic success that I'm having today without the solid grounding that Law Preview provided. I can't say enough good things about my Law Preview experience -- it was worth every dime and a whole lot more. It may be the best-kept secret for how to prepare and succeed in law school!

Law school was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I always worked hard, got good grades, and I did well on the LSAT’s. Suddenly I found myself surrounded by three hundred people just like me; all of them intelligent, resourceful and some with more extensive backgrounds than I could imagine. How do you succeed when you’re faced with such great competition? What is the only way to get to the top? The answer for me was Law Preview. . . . There was no time to figure things out once the semester started. While everyone was concerned with what to put in their briefs, I was reading ahead and getting started on my outlines. Law Preview gave me the edge I needed to stay ahead of the class and the skills I needed to succeed. As the semester went on, I referred back again and again to the exam strategies and I’m convinced it’s what got me the A’s, first on the midterm and then on my finals. Make no mistake; law school does not test how smart you are. Just working hard is not enough for an A. You need the tools that set you apart and ahead of everyone else. Thank you LawPreview for all the great advice and for helping me through my very scary first semester!!

First, I want to say THANK YOU! Thank you, thank you, thank you. In the months leading up to the start of the law school journey, my nerves began to get the best of me as I had heard of the rigors of law school and was skeptical of my ability to withstand the pressure and the work. I enrolled in Law Preview's late session in NYC and it was at that moment my life changed. Law Preview not only prepared me academically, but more importantly, it reinforced the notion that law school is manageable so long as it is approached in a certain way. It taught me to care about the little things and that those "little" things can make a big difference in the end. The people cared about helping me and the professors were extremely insightful. Now, I don't believe that I am even close to the smartest person in school, but I feel that Law Preview gave me a head start. Because of Law Preview I knew what I should be doing and when, while others were forced to learn by fire. By the time finals had come around, I was ready and I knew what to expect while others were scrambling to get finished. In short, Law Preview is one of the primary reasons that I received a 4.13 GPA and am ranked 3rd out of 307. Had I not gone to Law Preview, I can promise you that I would not be where I am today. Thank you Law Preview!

In addition to providing a great overview of each of my first-year classes, Law Preview gave me the confidence to believe that law school success is an achievable goal while eliminating fear of the unknown.

Law Preview enabled me to hit the ground running, and armed me with the insight to see what was ahead of me in the all-important first year. The professors were first rate, and the structure of the course was a perfect mix of substantive focus on the first-year courses as well as an informative aid in preparing for the day-to-day life of a 1L. . . . I truly believe the course has already benefited me at the mid-way point of my first semester and I am confident it will be pivotal come exam time.
—Paul D., Seton Hall University School of Law, Class of 2002

Law Preview gave me the confidence I needed to go into the first day of law school feeling like I could face the challenges to come.
—Michael Y., Seton Hall University School of Law, Class of 2008

I really felt the program helped prepare me for law school. I did not start classes completely unaware of the way they would be run. I know that if I had listened to its advice better, I would have done better in all of my classes.
—Anonymous, Seton Hall University School of Law, Class of 2008
|
Most importantly, Law Preview taught me how to effectively brief the cases. I was one of the few students in my section (that I am aware of) that briefed every case until the very last day of classes. I attribute this to my success first semester. Law Preview stressed the need to brief all the cases. We were told that students who briefed all the cases almost always did well on exams, and I found this to be true.
—Anonymous, Seton Hall University School of Law, Class of 2010

Law Preview gave me an introduction to each core first year course and helped prepare me for the shock of trying to understand what I was reading. Almost all of the cases we reviewed in Law Preview were crucial cases in my classes first semester.
