I attended the Law Preview session in Austin. I was just writing to let you know how I did the first semester. I attend the University of Houston Law Center, and I received all A's my first semester and am ranked #1 out of 266 students. Law Preview gave me the right mindset entering into law school, and I feel the class was a big part of my success. Not only did it help me succeed grades wise, but the class also gave me a sense of excitement to attend U of H, as there were 3 professors from the school who lectured at Law Preview, and I enjoyed all three!

—Shaun C., University of Houston Law Center, Class of 2013

I felt more prepared because I knew what to expect. I think the class made me feel more confident in my ability to meet the challenges of law school. I would definitely recommend the class to any incoming law student!

[Law Schools: All] [Graduation Year: All]

Law Preview was awesome! I learned how to prepare for class, study for exams, and take exams. The semester calendar was invaluable.

—Anonymous, Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Class of 2011

Law Preview gave me confidence and eliminated many of my pre-law school anxiety, exposed me to several cases we studied, and gave me an overview of subjects that allowed me to start with a big picture understanding. [Ranked 6 out of 223].

—Anonymous, Oklahoma City University School of Law, Class of 2012

It was so useful, even though the learning curve was still steep during the first semester I knew where it was going and what my goals should be. I gave it 200% and I was proud of my first semester grades and I look forward to doing even better this semester!

—Jeannine C., Pace University School of Law, Class of 2012

I finished 2nd out of 170 students in the second semester at the Dickinson School of Law, and number 11 overall. Law Preview definitely helped me to adopt the correct mind-set for Law School. Applying the lessons outlined during the course of the week throughout the year enabled me to achieve great results. Thanks a lot!

kay, so you took the LSAT and made it to law school. What now? Well, few students realize that what is even more important than your LSAT score is your first year GPA. Your first year GPA is essential to getting that coveted high-paying summer internship following your second year in law school, which in turn sets you up for a six figure salary following graduation. Additionally, a high first year GPA can also qualify you to transfer to a higher-ranked law school, which essentially negates a low LSAT score and increases your chances of employment following graduation. But that is easier said than done. The truth is, one needs a leg up on the competition. For me, that was Law Preview. I was an engineer in undergrad and did not do that well on the LSAT. However, Law Preview helped me learn the skills I needed to learn, and put together a plan of attack for my first year. I ended my first year of law school ranked in the top 5% of my class, which lead to me transferring from Penn State to UC Davis (at the time, it was a jump from #92 to #32). Not only that, but because of my stellar first year grades, I was able to land that high-paying summer internship as well. Without the help of Law Preview, I definitely would not have experienced such success. Furthermore, the faculty and students were great, and I still keep in touch with many of them. It is a unique experience that I would recommend to any future law student. With the help of Law Preview, you WILL succeed in law school!

—Teddie H., Pennsylvania State University, The Dickinson School of Law, Class of 2010
(transferred to University of California, Davis School of Law)

I believe Law Preview helped me a lot once I was in law school. I don't know my class rank yet, but my GPA for this semester is a 3.7, which, assuming the rankings are a bit higher than the rankings for the class of 2009, my GPA should put me solidly in the top 10% of the class. Law Preview helped mostly because it took away some of the fear of the unknown about the skills I'd need to do well in law school. The work itself this semester was nowhere near as bad as the unknown and having some familiarity with the process of reading and briefing cases, the Socratic method, and exam prep, helped remove a lot of that fear. Plus, it was great to have already read some of the semester's trickiest cases a couple times before the semester began (especially Palsgraph); just thinking about those concepts on my own before the heat of the semester started gave me an advantage. For some courses, it was also helpful to see another professor's views on the same subject matter, as it helped me tailor my outlines to my teacher's take on the law. As tempting as it was to think of the law in terms of right and wrong answers, and to just learn the rules, law preview helped me stay focused on the analysis, and how I would use the rules in new situations. Having experienced other perspectives before the semester began gave me the freedom to play with the rules we'd get from the cases and make them my own; this way, I had the chance to spend more effort on exam time management.

—Anonymous, Pennsylvania State University, The Dickinson School of Law, Class of 2010

Wow! That's how Law Preview has effected my law school experience. Attending that intense week of Law Preview set me up for success. Not only did I have the opportunity to get a 'preview' of the classes and the type of environment that I would be entering into, I got to look at some of the hardest cases before the real thing even started. That might not seem like a lot, but reading Palsgraf through once simply isn't enough. Through the first semester I'm ranked in the top 10% of my class. There's room for improvement for sure, but I know that I wouldn't have gotten this far without the help of Law Preview!

—Anonymous, Pennsylvania State University, The Dickinson School of Law, Class of 2011

Law Preview helped prepare me for what was a vastly different workload from undergraduate studies. During my week at Law Preview, I made the mistakes I would have made during my first semester. I was better prepared for the difficult questions, study aides, and workload than my classmates. I found myself comfortable with the law school rhythm, I knew how to make outlines before many of my classmates realized how crucial they would be. Because I was comfortable with the grading system, the class structure, the importance of my first semester grades, I focused immediately on my classes without fear, hesitation or trepidation. Law Preview is not the answer to an 'A' in a particular class, but a set of tools which teach students what law school (grades, competition, workload, exams, stress, Socratic Method, etc.) is like. Throughout the semester, I knew what was expected of me and what I could expect to experience in the traditional classes, on the exam, and in the legal research & writing course.

—Anastacia G., Pennsylvania State University, The Dickinson School of Law, Class of 2013

I wanted to let you know that after the first semester I made the top ten percent and I feel that much of it was due to taking the law preview course. I felt much more prepared than the rest of my fellow students. I think if I hadn't taken the course I would have felt intimidated when school first began. . . . Thanks!

—Ryan S., Pepperdine University School of Law, Class of 2008

Hey Don - I want to thank you and Law Preview for all the great advice. I go to Pepperdine and just received my fall grades. I made the Dean's List (top 10%). Thanks again!

—Chad G., Pepperdine University School of Law, Class of 2007

I entered law school with a much better understanding of what to expect than most students. Pepperdine had an extremely helpful, and I believe, unusually long 1L orientation. The orientation definitely provided a lot of information about what was coming and how to handle it. Even with that, most students did not fully understand the importance of actively learning while they read the daily assignments. They may have briefed the cases, but many did not really spend the time going over the material thoroughly enough to teach it to themselves before class. Thanks to Law Preview, I went in knowing the importance of understanding the reading. That skill was a life save for me when November rolled around, and my class-time attention span seriously waned. It also made so that when finals came around, and I had a suffocating amount of stuff going on in my personal life, I was still able to do pretty well because I had much left to learn than a lot of the class.

—Matt R., Pepperdine University School of Law, Class of 2009

Law Preview instilled in my head the strategy of 'read/brief' all cases and 'outline all classes early.' I had heard this before, but didn't understand how important it was. After my first semester, I saw the results pay off. I repeated the same philosophy for the second semester and everything went as expected.

—Nicholas L., Pepperdine University School of Law, Class of 2009

Law Preview made me feel comfortable walking into my first day of law school and knowing that I had a distinct advantage over my fellow classmates. Instead of spending valuable time figuring out how I was supposed to approach my courses, I was already assessing the material in a way that prepared me most effectively for exams.

—Anonymous, Pepperdine University School of Law, Class of 2013

Although I am sure you do not remember me, I wanted to send you an update. I took both your summer class and your winter exam-prep class. Upon receiving my first semester grades from Quinnipiac University Law School, with which I was not very pleased, I contacted you and we worked out a strategy for success in the second semester. I ended up finishing my first year in the top twenty students in my class. I attained my first year goal of transferring to a top tier law school. I am currently enrolled at American University-Washington College of Law (class of 2008) and so far I have received two As and an A-. I do not believe I could have had such success without Law Preview and your continued support.

—Parker T., Quinnipiac University School of Law, Class of 2008
(transferred to American University - Washington College of Law)

My school does not rank 1L's until the end of the year in the spring. Law Preview helped me to anticipate what each class was going to be like, as well as what law school in general would entail. The mock classes, along with their printable power-points, and the other general academic preparation materials all helped me to prepare and succeed in law school. I would recommend Law Preview to any incoming 1L without reservation.

—David D., Quinnipiac University School of Law, Class of 2011

The transition into law school was much smoother because of Law Preview. I didn't have to spend much time figuring out how to outline and brief and I even understood the material better because of the framework and conceptual overview that Law Preview provided in the substantive areas. The legal research and exam-taking discussions were also helpful and were infinitely more helpful than the exam-taking workshop conducted by my school's student services office. I would encourage everyone to take advantage of Law Preview.

—Anonymous, Roger Williams University School of Law, Class of 2008

Note: My ranking (16 out of 199) is only after one semester - I plan on moving up next semester! Law Preview was integral in my development as law student. Having the one week of Law Preview under my belt going into school made me feel so much more ready to go and I knew I had an edge up on other students. Also - the informational components of law preview such as how to schedule your time had me ready to go first week, unlike some of my fellow students who took almost the first month trying to get use the busy flow of law school and never-ending reading! And one last helpful tip: Law Preview gave us 4 different study aids at the end of the session, so it gave us a feel for what time of things were out there.

—Kimberly A., Roger Williams University School of Law, Class of 2009

My school does not provide student rankings until the end of the first year. However, my current GPA (with 4 of 5 grades reported) is a 3.78/4.00. Law Preview certainly helped me achieve sucess in my first semester of law school. Probably the biggest benefit for me was that it made me feel comfortable with the material right from the start. It helped me keep my fears to a minimum and so I was able to learn and participate in class right from the start. Many of the cases we covered in Law Preview were cases that we covered in my classes. Having previous exposure to these cases made the transition a lot easier for me. While overall, the substantive law that I learned at Law Preview did not give me an edge, I was able to pick up what my professors were discussing more easily because it was not the first time that I had seen the material. It is an expensive program, but I think that it is worth it.

—Melissa C., Roger Williams University School of Law, Class of 2013

I just wanted to say thank you to Law Preview! My first semester grades putme at the top of my class - and I don't know if I would have done as well without LP's help. There's a funny story: the day I got my grades back, I went out for Chinese food. The fortune in the cookie? "It tastes sweet!" Thank you!

—J.L., Rutgers The State University School of Law—Camden, Class of 2007

I just had to email you because I thought the legal research and writing day was outstanding. I had already handed in my evaluation sheet so I figured I'd put it in an email. Professor Harrison was great. I had a couple of overviews on the research end in undergrad and it never really clicked for me but he was able to get me there. I wrote a couple of papers actually and cited cases but never Shepardized them. I feel confident I'll be able to research very well now and will be able to give my other courses more attention and LR&W a little less in the beginning of the year. Also, I had read that sample Legal memorandum before and had trouble understanding the question presented and was like "I'll never be able to write something like that." But Professor Harrison was critical of the memo's author and some other things which made me feel a lot better. Also the handout you get to keep on the subject was great. I'll be using that all 3 years I think. I am really glad that I took the course, it was excellent and I think anyone who does not take that 6th day for LR&W is really missing out.
