Whether or not you're planning to take Law Preview to prepare for the challenges you'll face during your first year, you should definitely check out some of the following titles:
Law School Confidential: A Complete Guide to the Law School Experience
(by Robert H. Miller, Esq.)
Whether you're just starting to think about applying to law school, or you're a 3L getting ready to sit for the Bar, Law School Confidential is a great book. The author and his team of "mentors" from law schools across the country pull no punches in providing revealing and honest chronological advice for all three years of the law school experience, from picking the law school that's right for you and funding your legal education, to how to study and properly assess job opportunities. This is a must read for anyone entering law school.
Getting To Maybe: How To Excel On Law School Exams
(by Jeremy Paul and Michael Fischl)
This book is excellent! While many books and professors may preach "IRAC" as a way for structuring exam answers, Getting To Maybe: How To Excel On Law School Exams, correctly points out that such advice does not help students first correctly identify legal issues and, more importantly, master the intricacies of legal analysis.
Law 101: Everything You Need To Know About the American Legal System
(by Jay Feinman)
This is another excellent book! Professor Feinman has provided an easy to understand introduction to the American legal system using simple language and intriguing cases. We were so impressed with his straightforward style of writing, and his reputation as a phenomenal lecturer, that we retained Professor Feinman to lecture for Law Preview in New York and Philadelphia. Whether or not you decide to take Law Preview, you should definitely pick up a copy of Law 101.
