About David's Legal Career

Prior to law school David received bachelors and masters degrees in electrical engineering from MIT. He spent 10 years designing instrumentation before co-founding a software company in 1988. He and his partners sold the company in 2001.

David attended Law Preview in 2002 before starting his first year at Harvard Law School. After graduating from HLS, David worked as an Intellectual Property litigator in the Boston office of Wilmer Culter Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP and then spent three years clerking for Judge Rya Zobel, United States District Court of the District of Massachusetts.

In 2009, David returned to Harvard Law School as Program Director for the new problem solving course and as a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society. His research and scholarship examines the relationship between law and technology, particularly how to apply both effectively to reduce undesirable behavior while not destroying the openness that has been the hallmark of the Internet since its inception.

Now, if David's professional career doesn't make you jealous, his personal life certainly will! David owns his own airplane and can be found most weekends flying around New England at 1500 feet with the canopy open and his arm hanging out the window.
